At our last blog we were in Georgetown, TN where dad was helping SW Latimer preach to the large crowd at a revival meeting in an abandoned Presbyterian Church.  The local preachers in the community went and had the county judge to padlock the doors to the church to stop the meeting just like they did to RG Spurling and WF Bryant in 1896 Cherokee County, NC.

In 1937 after this Holy Ghost revival are word spread 200 miles from Cleveland, TN to Copper Hill, TN.  A group of men came to dad and told him "we don't have a building, all we have is a hill side with at Brush Harbor " and they ask him if he would come hold a meeting.  Dad told them he would be happy to come hold the meeting.

When dad arrived people were all over the hillside.  His heart went out immediately to all the people. Copper Hill was a Copper Mining community.  There was no vegetation due to the mining.  No life coming out of the ground.  God and His Holy Ghost power was about to birth new life into the hearts of the people that were so hungry for the Word of God.

The meetings started with Daddy playing his guitar and singing and then he opened his bible and started to preach.  The alter was filled, people were being saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost.  In this meeting was a great healing as well, one of the first for daddy.  Mr Will Black, who was blind his whole life, received his healing that night.  Dad said Will began to cry out " I can see, I can see".  He also said the power of God was so strong people were falling under the power all over the Brush Harbor and many people's lives were changed that day and when he closed the meeting, they did not want him to leave but he told them he would be back.  Dad hated to leave but he needed to go to South Cleveland and get help to come back with him.

At the next meeting he brought one of his best trio's Anna Mae & Paul Carroll and a Mulinax lady.  Anna Mae played the accordion and brought it with her this trip.  Behind the scenes the devil was a work trying to stop the meeting without dad's knowledge.  The service starting and the Trio began to sing and when they finished dad come to stand with his Bible to begin to preach and all of a sudden their was loud explosion causing rocks and boulders to start falling around the people.  Not one person was touched by a rock, not one person was injured that day.  No one moved but kept their eyes focused on dad and dad said these words " Bomb or no bomb, dynamite or no dynamite, I'm going to preach God's Word".  Dad continued to minister to the people.  He gave the altar call and people's lives everywhere were being changed.  Toward the end of the altar service dad eased his way close to a group of men that he knew and he asked them to go try to find out what happened.  They came and told him that someone had set off a bunch of dynamite on the hillside, all they found was a huge crater that it had left.

After the meeting was over the people wanted dad to organize a church but there were no buildings available.  That was a major problem in those days.  Dad wanted to organize at Church of God but he couldn't.  Will Black, the man healed and many other in that community traveled 200 miles to listen to daddy preach at South Cleveland.

Dad, like David of old, purposed in his heart to obey God rather than man.  He was walking in God's perfect love and did not fear man.

1 John 4:18 "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
